Vacation

Purpose

GoodBot wants its employees to be able to take a break. Being part of a healthy, refreshed workforce is important to all of us. Taking vacation time is essential - Vacation time must be taken by law and no employee may elect to receive pay in lieu of vacation.

Scope

This Policy applies to all paid employees of GoodBot.

Policy

All vacation time must be approved in advance by your manager. Your position, the date of request, length of employment and business needs are considered when reviewing vacation requests. Vacation requests may be limited during peak periods, with consideration of operational needs.

Unused vacation days shall not be carried forward to future years without the prior approval of your manager and the Chief Executive Officer.

Approval, up to a maximum of 5 days, will only be made in unique circumstances where the employee was unable to take vacation time. All vacation balances will be reset at the end of each calendar year. For new employees who have a start date within the calendar year, their vacation entitlement will be prorated accordingly for the remainder of the year and any prorated entitlement balance will automatically be carried over to the next calendar year. New employees are eligible to use their accrued vacation after completion of their probationary period.

For employees who resign or are terminated within the calendar year, their vacation entitlement will be prorated accordingly. If the prorated vacation entitlement exceeds vacation taken for the calendar year, then the excess vacation will be paid out in the final pay. If the vacation taken for the calendar year exceeds the prorated vacation entitlement, then the vacation owed will be deducted from your final pay.

It is the responsibility of the employees to ensure that they only take vacation that they have accrued thus far in the calendar year. GoodBot reserves the right to clawback or deduct vacation owing from an employee's final pay if they have taken more vacation than they have accrued in the calendar year.
