Statutory Holidays

Purpose

GoodBot recognizes that Statutory Holidays offer employees an opportunity to celebrate various public holidays.

Scope

This Policy applies to all paid employees of GoodBot.

Policy

GoodBot recognizes 11 statutory holidays in British Columbia:

  • New Year’s Day

  • Good Friday

  • Victoria Day

  • Canada Day

  • Labour Day

  • Thanksgiving Day

  • Remembrance Day

  • Christmas Day

  • Family Day

  • BC Day

  • Boxing Day

Note that Boxing Day is not an official statutory holiday.

To be eligible for statutory holidays, employees must have completed 30 days of employment (prior to the holiday) and worked on at least 15 of the 30 days before the statutory holiday. Statutory Holiday pay is calculated based on Employment Standards legislation.

Statutory Holiday pay is based on an average day’s pay. An average day’s pay is calculated by dividing the total wages in the 30 calendar days before the statutory holiday by the number of days worked. Employees must work the scheduled shift before and after the statutory holiday to be eligible for statutory pay. Employees on leave of absence are not eligible for statutory pay.

Eligible hourly employees who are scheduled and work on a statutory holiday will receive time and a half (1.5x) pay for hours worked that day plus regular time for the statutory holiday.
