Sick & Wellness Days
Purpose
The health and wellness of our members is crucial to GoodBot and our ability to succeed. Our Sick and Wellness Days are designed for illnesses and mental rest days.
Scope
This Policy applies to all paid employees of GoodBot.
Policy
Employees have 8 paid sick or wellness days during a calendar year. Sick and wellness days are specifically designed for illnesses and mental health rest, they should not be used in lieu of a vacation day. Sick and wellness days should be taken in honest and good faith. Failure to do so or misuse of this benefit may result in disciplinary action and/or termination.
Acceptable use of sick and wellness days include: personal illness and health care, family care, mental health rest, stress relief, personal development, and volunteering.
Employees are expected to inform their manager, by email, phone, or slack, as soon as possible before their work day, that they will be taking a sick or wellness day. Employees may be asked to provide appropriate documentation to support an absence and return to work for any absence of three or more days.
For new employees with a start date within the calendar year, the sick and wellness days will be prorated for the remaining year. Sick and wellness days will also be prorated based on hours of work (40 hours per week being the regular hours).
Sick and Wellness Days will be reset at the end of each calendar year. No sick or wellness days may be carried over and no sick or mental health days will be paid out in lieu. If you use up your balance of paid sick or wellness days, any excess days will be unpaid days.
Personal Development Wellness Opportunities
For personal development, volunteering, or other related wellness opportunities, notice of at least 7 days should be provided. With consideration of operational needs, your notice for a wellness opportunity may be declined.
Upon completion of your personal development, volunteer, or other related wellness opportunity, you will be expected to report back and share your experience with your manager or the team, if your manager requests. This will allow a wider variety of experiences and knowledge to be shared with the team, rather than many employees attending the same opportunity.
